St. Ives (All for love)
88 mins (1998)
This classic period romcom follows the romantic adventures of the dashing Viscount Jacques St Ives (Jean Marc Barr), a French officer and dueling legend, captured during the Napoleonic Wars and sent to a prisoner of war camp in Scotland. Here the handsome lothario meets the prison governor, the bumbling English Major Chevening (Richard E. Grant), the beautiful Flora (Anna Friel) and her Aunt Miss Gilchrist (Miranda Richardson), both of whom are regular visitors to the prison. Flora recognises that, whatever his crime, St. Ives is a gentleman, and she sets out to unravel a mystery about his past. This is a riotously comic, feel-good film previously broadcast by the BBC.
